Why is David Running?
David Clough is running for Select Board
because he believes Canton needs thoughtful
change grounded in accountability,
transparency, and responsible decision-making.
His goal is simple: ask the hard questions,
ensure residents receive clear answers, and
make certain Town decisions are made in the
best interest of the entire community. If
elected David plans on contributing the Select
Board salary to charity.

What are David’s Qualifications For Select Board
David holds a bachelor’s degree in international business from SUNY Plattsburgh and attended graduate school at Boston University for finance before leaving to pursue entrepreneurship. He founded eVacuumStore.com which has grown into a successful national e-commerce company where he now serves as Director of eCommerce. Earlier in his career, he worked at State Street Financial and owned multiple Electrolux retail stores. Through these roles he gained hands-on experience in finance, budgeting, logistics, customer service, and operational management — skills he believes translate directly to municipal oversight.

David previously served on the Canton Finance Committee, where he reviewed annual operating budgets, capital plans, and long-term financial projections. His focus was protecting taxpayers while ensuring the Town delivers reliable, high-quality services. This experience gave him a detailed understanding of how municipal spending decisions affect residents, businesses, and future budgets.
He also served on the Town’s Police Audit Committee, supporting professional oversight, public trust, and a review of policy standards. In addition, David served one year on the Capital Planning Committee, where he gained an understanding of the Town’s debt obligations and cash capital needs.

About David
Beyond municipal service, David has been actively involved in community and charitable efforts. His company served for several years as the title sponsor of the MSPCA-Angell Run Fur Fun 5K, helping the event raise over $150,000 to support the organization’s law enforcement, advocacy, shelter, and veterinary programs. His company was also the original title sponsor of Canton Clean Up Day, and he continues to volunteer each year alongside his wife Ashley, who serves as a site leader. David also assisted with improvements to the KeepCantonBeautiful.org website.

David and Ashley are married and have two children enrolled in Canton Public Schools. As a youth sports parent and Canton hockey dad, he values programs that bring families together and strengthen the community.

David believes local government works best when residents feel informed and heard. As a Select Board member, he hopes to improve communication between Town Hall and residents, encourage broader civic participation, and promote practical, data-driven decision-making. His priorities include fiscal responsibility, infrastructure planning, and ensuring policies are evaluated based on measurable results and long-term sustainability.

David is not seeking office as a career politician, but as a resident who wants to contribute his professional and volunteer experience to the Town’s future. He believes Canton can preserve its character while adapting to new challenges — and that open dialogue, transparency, and accountability are essential to earning public trust.
