John R. McCourt
Canton’s community has been a priority in my life for
decades. Born and raised in Canton, I also raised my
children here. For as long as I can remember, I’ve
dedicated any and all free time I have to our
community. My commitment to Canton started
when I was young, working for the Canton Recreation
Department, the Department of Public Works (DPW),
and the Engineering Department. From there, I worked
to help design various youth programs before joining
multiple committees. I’ve volunteered on the Canton
Parks and Recreation Committee and have served on
the Canton Zoning Board of Appeals and the Building
Renovations Committee (BRC) for 15 years, where I currently sit as an active member. These positions have given me the privilege of being part of vital town projects, including the library renovations, the aquatic center, the Galvin Middle School Project, and hearings on the Paul Revere Heritage site. For the past three years, I’ve proudly served as an elected member of the Select Board, where I currently serve as chair. When asked why I’m running, or in this case, why I’m running again, the answer is simple. I love my town, and I want to be part of helping our community grow and flourish. I’m a hands-on, face-to-face individual who believes in doing everything that I can to get the job done. I don’t feel done yet; there’s more work to be done for our community and us, and I want to be the one to do it.
