Julie Beckham
Julie Beckham is the AVP/Financial Education
Development & Strategy Officer at Rockland Trust,
where she creates engaging financial education
programming for colleagues, customers, and
community members of all ages. An Accredited
Financial Counselor (AFC) with more than 15 years in
banking, Julie previously served as Community
Relations Manager at Blue Hills Bank, managing a
$3 million foundation. This experience provided her
with unique insight into the public-private
partnerships that allow communities to thrive.
In her professional life, Julie has made a career of
simplifying the complex. Whether performing as “Ms. Money” for 80,000 students across Massachusetts, hosting financial podcasts, or managing large-scale budgets, Julie eliminates jargon and demystifies procedures, making knowledge that was out of reach, accessible. This is what she intends to do in local government: invite residents into conversations, making town governance and fiscal decisions collaborative, transparent and welcoming.
Julie’s professional background is rooted in both the arts and finance. A graduate of Canton High School and New York University, Julie lived and worked as an actor and teacher in New York for 10 years, was a member of the Actors’ Equity Association, a union affiliated with the AFL-CIO and returned home to raise her family in Canton. Prior to her career in banking, she served as the Interim Executive Director for Riverside Theatre Works in Hyde Park and was the Founder/Owner of the Greater Boston Drama Studio, which operated out of Pequitside Farm in Canton.
Demonstrating commitment to her community, Julie has dedicated extensive time to local service, including roles on the Boards of the Hansen C.A.P.T., C.A.P.E., the CHS School Council, and the Canton Cultural Council. Most recently, she served as Vice-Chair of Canton’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (CDEI) Committee. In the Greater Boston area, she serves on the Advisory Council of ETHOS Money Management, helping seniors age at home, and recently served on the Selection Committee for the Citizens’ Housing & Planning Association (CHAPA).
A graduate of the 89th Citizens’ Legislative Seminar at the Massachusetts State House and YW’s LeadBoston, Julie advocates at the state level for a guaranteed semester of financial education for all Massachusetts high school students. She currently serves as Vice-Chair for the Student Financial Education Initiative and is a member of the Financial Empowerment Network.
Julie brings a unique blend of civic engagement, financial expertise, creative thinking and enthusiasm to the race for Select Board. She is committed to connecting the people and resources that make Canton great while investing in smart, strategic growth that honors Canton’s history. And, true to her passion, she believes every resident deserves to be heard through accessible communication and the caring, respectful, and inclusive leadership she has honed throughout her career path and life experiences.
