SONJA GRAUDS

Sonja Grauds was appointed to the School Committee in fall of 2024 and is a parent to a Hansen first grader and fall 2025 kindergartener. Her priorities as a member of the Committee include transparent communication between CPS, educators and community members, driving progress on the District’s strategic goals, and school safety. She is currently a member of the Budget & Finance and Student Wellness Advisory subcommittees.

School Committee has given her many opportunities to meet

parents, teachers and students and gain understanding of

our district’s challenges and strengths. Sonja is running to

give the community a voice in important issues like design

and construction of the new Galvin Middle School, school

spending, ensuring that safety is a priority in both policy

and physical school spaces, and many others. Sonja

believes that being accessible to our school community

and representing their interests is a Committee member’s

most important role.

Prior to joining School Committee, Sonja was a member of several town committees, including the Canton 2025 Master Plan Steering Committee and Route 138 Corridor Redevelopment Committee. She has also volunteered as a youth T ball coach, Treasurer for Hansen CAPT and Canton’s Daisy troop, and as a Hansen School Council member.

Sonja has dedicated her career to public service. She currently works as the Director of Project Management & Data Analytics at the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services, managing technical and strategic planning projects. Prior to this role, she worked for over ten years at the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, specializing in school performance and curriculum data. This work affords her a deep understanding of the metrics and systems by which public schools are evaluated as well as research-based strategies for school and student success.

Sonja holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Northeastern University, where she graduated as the Valedictorian of the College of Arts and Sciences. She also holds aMaster of Public Administration degree from UMass Boston. She enjoys being outside in all seasons with her family and friends, live music, and relaxing at home with her family.
